Hi all, just wondering if these parts I'm about to order are going to be any good. They don't have to last all that long as I will be upgrading once I get to grips with things just want to do it as cheap as possible for now.

A few other bits to get like a cheap arc welder and scrapyard driveshaft.

    Thanks for looking,

    Cheers,
    Craig.

All looks good Craig. @SilentChill , just beware the wiper will need modification as they run the earth through the body of the wiper so this will be needed to be removed before using for a simulator. Or when the motor goes in reverse it will send 12Vs running the through the frame and anything like a set of pedals even the Ard (through the pot connections) will get a back 12v shock , normally frying them good.

Next I would find some pipe to sleeve over the M12 All Thread , tends to bend with sharp motion changes (done that one myself- ah what!!) so a sleeve over it will help it immensely.

Apart from that mate all looks good, would recommend you look into @RufusDufus code , a very nice app that makes it easier to setup, a few now have used this now successfully with all the same components you propose.

    Happy Building.

    Ok
    1. Fuse box can be handy but not a real need on 12v sim but for the extra protection , cool.
    2. Pots I would use 360 deg pots cause when setting up, you may get a setting wrong , etc and the lever will spin all the way around, but depending on how you mount them will depend whether they survive or get twisted into 2 separate parts. But the ones you have choose will still work just an in built stopper or different connection to stop the pot from being destroyed easily is recommend for use on a Ard setup.
    3. Base shackers sorry cant comment , never found the need to use them.
    4. Emergency switch , that's a must plus can be handy for isolation purposes,
I use mine as safety switch plus I use it to turn off the JRK12v12 when I hope off the sim for a little rest but don't want to power every thing down, for example hit the switch the drivers shutdown and when I jump back in ,open the switch and it all comes to life, while SimTools is still running in background, another handy point is for testing , ie motor goes made , one click all stops instantly.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks again @eaorobbie , about the pot, I picked a 1 turn one as that's what everyone was recommending does 1 turn = 360 ? Or am I being dumb lol

there are single turn 270 deg rotation pots and single turn 360 deg rotation pots.
He is referring to the 360 deg rotation pots .

Ok thanks @bsft , think the ones i have chosen are 340deg from what i can tell from the details i will have to try and just attach them properly so i dont split them.

    Hi

when mounting the threaded 12mm rods to these a good idea is to put some grease on the thread and also a mount an extra nut, i did the same and it took away some cranking sounds. Will post a picture later. :)

Thanks for the tip I'll make sure I do it. Most of my stuff should be arriving this week so I should be able to get it hooked up and see if it works ok.

Just need to get a cheap welder bought and make a trip to the scrapyard get some more bits.
