    Hi,

Been a few people comment or PM me about this MAME cabinet I built, so here is the complete build.

It's now well over 8 years old this actual build and the PC I put it in it was old then, so it shows you how little you need to run MAME and Sega games! It will also run the PC version of the "House of the Dead" games which is great fun with the light gun.

Sorry slow internet users, lots of photos and comments :)

And so it begins... A jumble of wires and an Idea...

12v / 240V relay that switches on the Powerboard when the PC is powered on, turning on the Monitor, Amp, lights and Peripherals all at the same time and will power off when the PC does.

Front bezel. It's actually a reverse picture frame with the another smaller picture frame screwed to the front, with the back of the first picture frame cut out. This gives the beveled look and saved me having to get glass cut to fit. The glass is bigger than the inner frame, but large enough to cover the 20in CRT I used.

The rats nest of cabling.... Wiring the joysticks is fun because you have to remember that pushing up on an arcade joystick, clicks the BOTTOM microswitch....

    Mate, noice build!
I especially like that it's not just a square box. Got some nice angles going on there. Top work!

Kind of makes me want to build one too...

    Nice job @Archie.

I had a team of young people build an arcade machine and it won the Tasmanian Youth Challenge Award in 2012 for the Best Community Project.

We set it up so we could easily customised the front end to do video loop promotions such as International Men's Week and did custom in game promotion content for things such as National Youth Week, using Tux Kart.

Ironically I was a joint recipient of the youth award with the young people, as I created the initiative, secured the sponsorship, negotiated the partnerships and arranged the youth team and youth leadership to oversee the building of the Arcade Machine, which only took a week.

It certainly was an interesting way to bring young people to youth related promotions, rather then trying to lecture them about those messages.

That is great Archie. I built a countertop version with a Nintendo machine built in so he could change carts.
