So you mean updating AC to use the latest Oculus SDK 7, or something else @Nick Moxley ?

The latest Oculus SDK does away with extended mode, which AC currently uses.

well its going from 32 bit to 64 bit, so I hope the plugin is fixed for ALL parts of the planet, not just the northern hemisphere
and its going to cost almost $14 AU

You have gotten my hopes up, if the implement the latest Oculus runtime then they must fix the menus for VR, which means for the first time you could fully access all the settings menus when using VR.

At the moment AC automatically skips the settings screen with VR, and that pretty much cripples it for any type of competitive VR game play.

I suppose you spoke about TS2 and the troubles with the plugin since the last update and 64bits support.
I hope the AC release will be the same for all the world, I can't imagine AC without movements !
Moreover I don't understand (if it's true) why TS2 have different releases which depend where we live...

yes well Dirt Rally, there are different versions between north and south of the planet, my concern with AC is the game dash mostly, as it DOES NOT WORK in Dirt Rally and if it does not work in Assetto Corsa after the update and if there is a plugin cgange needed, then its pointless me bothering playing the game. I might as well just wait for the next version of Simtools where i KNOW IT WILL WORK.

Ah yes, I was aware of the No setup menu, which for me would be a Killer and my F1's not being able to adjust the damper's and heave rates as needed. I would assume they are bringing thing's up to date and will allow a proper interface now. Fingers Crossed for you guys in the mean time.

Very much looking forward to this update. I have to say that I'm quite happy with AC in general but some of these things listed will make this an even better sim.
I was especially surprised at what the last update brought to the force feedback. And there is another mention of further improving that....awesome!
I'm also looking forward to what the new tire model will bring to the game.

Kunos seems to impress time and time again.

Drool... The GT40 Mki. I only have pCars to go off, but that thing is a drift fest in that game. Will be awesome flinging the GT40 around Nords....

FYI Version 1.3 works fine with the current plugin in 64bit mode.

No changes to the rift support, that still works fine.

    New cars are pretty cool

Improvements in 1.3 let me speechless!
FFB is better than ever, miles away from any other existing driving game.
The new tire implementetion with outside and inside temperature make you really feel when tires are too cold/hot
    V5 tire specs... as above
Then new cars are... amazing... R8, F40, FCG003, ... whooohoooo
I've even restarted career mode, that I at first (1.0) hated, and now I'm enjoying it.
Whoever still don't own it, and is a simracer, MUST have it!

Ok, used too much time to write this, back to driving.
Is just 1:30AM over here :D

PS as @Avenga76 wrote, plugin works @64bit, not @32bit (why one should run 32 bit?!?)
Various app had to be recompiled due to the new 64 bit stuff (have to use the _ctypes.pdy compiled for 64 bit to work), I have all up and running now

The FFB feels much better on the Accuforce. It feels a lot smoother and more detailed, more dynamic. Before it felt quite rough and jerky on a direct drive wheel. I guess it depends of what wheel you are running though, you might not feel the difference on a smaller wheel because it would be masking all that detail any way.

I wouldn't go as far to say the FFB is better than something like iRacing or rFactor 2 but it is at least on par now. I think all 3 have good FFB now.

Yeah, the new cars are cool. I like the R8, Lambo GT3 and Countach

I was the same, I played one race when 1.0 came out and gave up.

I tried it again with the Oculus and it is actually really fun. I just finished the N1 series. The FWD cars felt really good on the Accuforce, you could feel the understeer and torque steer, you could also feel the front wheels grip and pull you out of the corners.

A few tips for if you want to play career with the Oculus Rift.

They have no in game HUD with the rift so you have no information about what lap it is or what position you are in. It is even worse in time trial because you can't see how much time you have left or how many points, it doesn't even tell you when the time trial starts.

There are a few hotkeys which you should bind for the Oculus which makes it a lot better.

    Look left: restart session
    Look behind: start race
    Look right: exit session
    Celebrate: recenters the rift

Bind these to your wheel and it should make things a lot easier.

For a race I found this is the best way to do it.

When you start a race it will instantly start the countdown to the for the race, this means you only have 7 seconds to get ready. I find it is easier to press the "Look left: restart session" this will restart you on the grid but won't start the countdown. This will give you as much time as you need to get ready then click the "Look behind: start race" then it will start the 7 second countdown to the start of the race. When the race is over press the "Look right: exit session" button and it will take you back to the main screen and the results.

In Time trials it is a real pain because the clock starts as soon as you are in the car, even before the headset warning sign is gone.

For Time trials I find it is best to leave your mouse hovering over the "Start Engine" button, then put the rift on and click the mouse to start the time trial. As soon as you get in to the car the timer will start so just shift up and floor it as soon as you get in, don't wait for the headset warning to disappear. Then once you are moving you can recenter the oculus etc. You won't have any display for how long you have left in the time trial so just keep racing until the screen goes black and it shows an outside view of your car. Press "Look right: exit session" and it will take you back to the results page so you can see how well you did.

The "Look left: restart session" button doesn't restart the timer in time trial so it doesn't work with the rift, if you want to try again or restart the time trial you need to exit the session and start it again.

Id have to check (if I ever get time, maybe in a few years), but as I have a G27, the FFB may be more refined for it. I am fairly basic when it comes to all those adjustments. I spend more time on profiles usually. But with a direct drive wheel, yes, it may be better
