    Hi all,

User dberg1 has rated one of my posts as "dumb". This normally wouldn't bother me since it is the Internet after all but I see that his opinion has been immediately reflected in my running score at this forum. Is that how it's supposed to work? No requirement to have him explain why he voted that way? He didn't bother posting anything, just voted that way.

The content of my post is not relevant here, it really might be dumb. But without any cost incurred, it would seem entirely arbitrary to rate anything you want depending on whether you have taken your medication or not. If negative ratings cost a coin or two, people might be more inclined to think twice before rating something badly. Instead, dberg1 likely received coins for his effort of rating a post he probably didn't even understand (I'm taking some liberties with my assumptions here, of course).

    Regards,
    JR

    Hi @JRoque
Have you asked @dberg1 before posting this post? It might be that he's not even aware (the dumb button is on the very right just where you scroll on a mobile).
Or indeed he wanted to tax your post negatively and you deserve an explanation IMHO.

I am not sure what sort of positive thing can come from having dumb as an option in the first place, in my view it just undermines the community and may be the basis for conflict.

Sometime a dumb rating results from simple stuff, like someone just not getting something like a joke. In this case the system did not register who added the dumb, not that I care, which is strange in itself. Certainly anonymous negative stuff should not be allowed for any reason:

Same experience here, I was scrolling down the screen and was hitting the dislike button accidentally.

Excellent guys, glad to hear it might have been a mistake. I agree with a previous post, not sure how useful is a rating like that or showing the detail of the running score to everyone, for that matter. It doesn't seem conducive to community building, either.

Case closed, thanks for your input!
