The Nut that tightens the Axle bolt itself to the Gear box. I think your using a Nylon Lock nut, I would suggest a double nut to Ensure it Cant come undone. You have some length to play with already, maybe do a regular nut First then Slather the shit out of a Nylon lock Nut with Thread lock and that technically shouldn't ever be able to wiggle loose on ya.

Thanks for asking @noorbeast - Things are happening. I did some more work on the base and have started to look at wiring. I'm still waiting for the flex couplers to arrive so I can do some more work with the motors.
I have also completely dis-assembled my current sim now and have started modifying the frame. There was a couple of things I wanted to change for a while now so I figured now is the time. So currently there are sim parts everywhere throughout the house. :grin
Hopefully I'm gonna have another good run tomorrow. Will post some pics then.

Ok, I had a somewhat productive day. Spent a bit of time working on the old frame and thinking about improvements.
I'm hoping I can do some actual building over the next few days.

As soon as I have updates, I will let you know.

Knowing what you want to do different is half the battle...the other half is figuring how in the hell you are going to do that ;)

    Hello! :D

I finally got around to uploading some pics. Progress is slow because I spent a LOT of time nutting things out...
But I manage to actually build a bit here and there.

    So,.......:

Base Frame 1.jpg Base Frame with MDF fixed to it. The rollers at the front are for the main frame to sit on so I can adjust it.

Main Frame.jpg This is the main frame I was already using. I had to modify this slightly.

    Some time later......
Base and Main.jpg Main Frame and Base Frame meet.Plus a few other bits attached. The whole top frame can slide forwards and backwards a little bit so one can adjust the "seat".

The JRK's are mounted. Courtesy of an old PC case. I hacked up the plastic housing and fixed it to the base frame.
    JRK Mount.jpg JRK Fan.jpg

The plastics are the perfect size to even stick a 100mm fan on top to keep things running cool.

    Progress.jpg

So, this is what I am up to at this stage. Many more hours and many more coffee's to go...:grin

does having a motion sim and not having time to use it for 2 weeks or more count?

Know that feeling, my life is a bit like that at the moment, though I have used the time in between other obligations to do some sim related update planning.

I started setting up the jrk's and it seems I got a dud one. As soon as I apply 12V to one of them, I get a motor driver error in the config utility. Have any of you guys come across that problem before? @noorbeast ,@bsft - any ideas?

Check all wiring to ensure there is no GND short and then go through the setup steps from scratch again.

Let us know what the outcome is.

I have checked it and even with nothing else connected other than the usb and the 12V supply, I get this error. As soon as I turn the 12V supply off, the motor driver error goes away and the no power error appears. So that side seems ok.

From the manual - This error occurs when one of the motor driver’s fault conditions are triggered, and the motor driver shuts down the motor and reports the error to the jrk’s microcontroller. This error also occurs when the jrk is connected to USB and motor power becomes disconnected. When this error occurs, the jrk will try to automatically recover from it by toggling the appropriate lines on the motor driver. The jrk 21v3’s motor driver fault occurs on under-voltage, over-temperature, or over-current conditions. The jrk 12v12’s motor driver fault occurs when it detects that motor output A is shorted to ground or VIN.

In trying to help you troubleshoot we will need you to be specific about what you have or have not done, just so we can rule stuff out.

So, I think you are using server PSUs, have you checked the soldering at the PSU and any connections along the wire?

Carefully inspect the power and GND wire at the JRK, are the pins isolated and are there any stray strands of wire that may short?

Have you tried using a different PSU with the problem JRK?

Have you used a multimeter to check under-voltage or over-current conditions?

    Could the JRK be over-temperature?

Have you cleared all the JRK settings and redone the setup from scratch?
