It is still beta... but it is damn awesome...

Anyone knows if a plug-in is in the works... or could be done?

    Cheers.

Bugger this means every time they update the game we have to find the values all over again.
Wonder if the developer would be interested in outputting values to a mem file like SimBin did.
This would open the game up to developers like us.

You can hack into the program and read the telemetry values directly from PC memory.
The issue though is that with every update of the program the memory location changes and you have to find the values again. This is very time consuming…

    Just giving a bump.
The beta is ending in a couple weeks, and retail version due out in mid december.
Would there still be problems after final release?

The technical challenges of maintaining a plugin are likely to remain, as you can expect ongoing development of ED.

I did not get a response to my original email to the developers so have forwarded it again along with this covering comment:

    Hi there.

I am following up re the motion related query below and to let you know about the ongoing discussions related to Elite Dangerous and motion simulation, particularly as the release date is approaching:

Your consideration or any statement as to what is or is not possible would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi all,

New to this forum and DOF simulators, a friend and I are looking into building a 2DOF for ED, huge sticking point at the moment is not being able to grab the telemetry data from the game. As for that video above I believe they are simply mimicking the direct movement from the controller.

There has been some interesting discussions going on about what forces you would actually feel in space, the suggestion being that when you accelerate you should feel the relative force until the desired speed has been reached, and then nothing. Similar thought for thrusting, an initial force is present and then once travelling in the desired direction you don't feel anything. This is totally different to atmospheric flying.

What are your thoughts on that?

    Trigger.

@prilad and the motion plugin team reported today that they have ED on their radar, once the release is made: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...ions-games-need-motion.5839/page-2#post-65715

I agree that zero G expected forces are somewhat different to atmospheric flying but do keep in mind that all motion simulation is somewhat of a mind trick. I have incorporated a control surge system in my build, which will work in conjunction with the harness to simulate a sustained 'feel' of acceleration or deceleration. There are other lessons from the likes of the Gseat that can also be considered as part of motion simulation. It all comes down to how best to fool your brain.

Ahh yes I see, all about which is the best way to fool your brain. I had not seen the G seat before, thanks for pointing it out. That's great news that prilad and value1 are up for taking it on, we look forward to the updates! Trigger.

For these, who want to have some fun already with the Combat Training Demo 1.00, here a plugin.
Currently it only supports roll speed and pitch speed, mimicing the little gyro thingy on the dashboard

It won't work with the coming release but with the trainer only. At least it gave me the opportunity to learn, how to find the values. So hopefully the plugin for the release is just around the corner…
