    Welcome @dualclick

You will indeed find many experienced and helpful people here. Do poke about on the forums, there are many, many sim ideas and build details.

Have you worked out your initial criteria of what motion simulator you may like to build? I have found that basing your design off some of the existing projects here is a useful way to get started and still leaves plenty of scope to mod it further to meet your own ideas, skills, budget and criteria.

    Hello

I'm 20 years old student from Finland. I registered to this forum a few years back when i was really excited about motion simulators (after testing a commercial one in an exhibition). But at that time it felt too difficult to start building one and the excitement passed. Now after some time and seeing more projects everything seemed a little easier to approach.

I have followed RacingMat's tutorial and it has been very helpful. But i planned on making the simulator look more like Erwan960's with motors on the front. And just to bolt my playseat to the upper board.

Right now i have been testing the motors and electronics. I think that my (cheap) potentiometers might have an issue because the centre-point has moved though everything is still tightly fixed. I am neither sure if the system is strong enough. I would like to test rapid movement with games before i continue. Could somebody send me Assetto Corsa plugin for simtools? Right now i don't have enough coins and wouldn't want to buy the monthly gold supporter package yet, because it might take some time before i get the simulator fully working. And then i might need a new plugin version. According to this post it should be ok to ask for one.

But anyway here are a couple of pictures of what i have now. I will add some when it is finished :)

@Jymä , good stuff there, it will be a nice project, remember to start a new thread so we can help there.
And also I have sent you enough coins to get yourself a download package for the week.
    Cheers, David.

@bsft Thank you too! Yeah, it feels like there is a problem with the potentiometers. The centre point again moved to the same direction after some testing. They are fixed to the motor axle with glue but they shouldn't move. I think i will order some higher quality potentiometers and meanwhile finish the build.

@Jymä, nice to see other Finnish guy here in xsimulator! Definitely going to follow your posts, may the force be with you along the process :)

Actually, I failed to introduce my self in this thread at the beginning of my project... Sorry about that, now it is propably too late, though I did it in my first post of my project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/2dof-beginner-rig-completed.5446/

    Hi All
My name is Dave (43) and I live in Staffordshire in the UK, completely new to motion simulation and sim racing, do however have a background in mechanical engineering and offroad buggy racing. My interest in the subject stems from wanting to build something for my son (13) to race on. He is a very keen two stroke karter and loves his driving games only on the xbox so far. I'm hoping that I can gather enough knowledge to build him a simulator and up his enjoyment factor. My current thinking is around building a 2DOF seat mover mounted onto a kart chassis (do I also need drift motion ?)not sure if this is the right approach but will post in DIY build threads and hopefully someone will have some knowledge of what sort of sim experience we could expect out of rfactor karting etc. Fantastic amount of information on here so no excuses for not having a go. Just in information overload at the moment so please be gentle

    Hello @dave r and welcome.
Have a dig through here http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/ and some suggestions here http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/different-2dof-sim-builds-feel-free-to-add-designs.5624/ to see if anything helps. With yours, I suggest you start a new thread and we can advise from there. a balanced pivot 2DOF under the kart frame would work. Drift can be added first up or later. Its not vitally important.
Choice of control board I suggest is the Pololu JRK 12v12 and chase up some 12v 200 watt worm gear motors.
    Hopefully that starts you.
    Cheers, David.

Hi, I've lurking for a while, thought I'd finally get cracking on a project. Recently purchased a DK2 Rift and the most noticeable thing missing was movement/tactile feedback to the body. So I sold it to buy motion sim parts and I'll be ready for CV1... maybe I've just unleashed a demon... time will tell...

    Welcome @Goatboy.

I am guessing that if you have been lurking for a while you may have some ideas about what you want in a simulator. If so share them, if not then feel free to ask lots of questions. There are some awesome folk here who go out of their way to help us mere mortals with all things motion sim related.

Yeah I've got an idea of what I want to achieve, it'll have to roll it out in stages though. Going to start with a 2 dof seat mover to get some hands on, then work from there as I learn more.

Already noticed a few regular posters ( notice them on other sites also :) ) , learning a lot just reading posts, can't wait until the hardware starts rocking up and the I've got some questions ..

    Cheers

    Hi erverybody

i mic from germany an i am planning to build a simracing simulation using a AVR micro controller. i am not new to electronics but never connected my devices to a pc to hook up some computer simulations. lots of new stuff to learn for my. think this will be fun :)

    regards

Welcome @drbender and @Tiago . There is indeed plenty of 'stuff to learn' and I have been doing plenty of that with the amazing support of members here.

@Tiago you will need to use Google translate to English, so we can all understand. So your post was:
