Insane. BTW: it seems the FOV is not ideal. In the video the horizon view point is overstretched...?

Like any visual setup FOV has to be optimised from the user perspective, not a camera angle. The build and warpalizer links I posted go into that.

Another option is a Super FOV, which is basically a screen just behind the steering wheel with a projector. It can give the effect of proper scale, though it can also have the screen door effect as seen in an Oculus Rift, because it is so close to you.

One motion sim guy ditched his large and more complex curved screen:

The superfov setup looks more in proportion, only thing.....
I should disable the realhead plugin and the movement of the car because now the steering wheel is moving around in his cockpit lol

My favor in the end will be the Oculus Rift fur sure.

Same here, the Rift wins hands down in my world...but it is not for everyone.

I agree with you noorbeast. When I got first my hands on Rift DK1 I was already sure that THIS is going to be the future without a doubt. Yes, there are flaws, yes there are problems but even with DK1 bad resolution etc. the VR effect is hands down better than anything you can do. Now with DK2 this got so much better that I actually complete forget about my Monitor Setup, I am not going to invest one cent anymore in Screen/Monitor solutions and cant await the final Oculus Rift.

With the current DK2 I can drive without any motion sickness etc. for long long time...lets say my hands, legs etc. hurt before my eyes :) there are still some issues of course but the level of improvment from DK1 to DK2 is that massive that you know they are going to solve the last things easily. Another huge diference is that you dont just get some type of Screen for your eyes but the new DK2 motion sensor is breaking ground as well. Now you dont just sit in your dead seat but when you lean forward, sideways etc. the image go with you which gives you a way better sense of reality. In all other setups you just sit in your seat with motion, but if the seat for example lean forward because you break hard nothing else happens during with DK2 you actually almost bite your steering wheel. In convertibles you can even lean over the window or out of the window. I tested all with LFS since this is the only reasonable sim game which support native DK2 already but I cant await now Assetto Corsa and RaceRoom which both report very soon to release there updates.

My absolute recommendation for any Sim fan.... get your hands on Oculus Rift if you want real VR racing. The feeling together with the motion seat is amazing!

My experiments with curved screen where not that exciting.
Lots of issues with the "warping" software, tried quite a few, compatibility is not 100% for any of them.
Then, there is the pixel distortion that causes a lot of aliasing efx... Disappointing! :-(
I ended up with 3 x 50" HDTV. Not as immersive, but at least none of these problems apply.
