Good video - pilot says it's a dynamic simulation - in any event, nice 5 minute video.
    Hope you enjoy.

    eaorobbie,
In the beginning, the pilot says it's a "dynamic simulation", but IF it's a real simulator, the scenery beats anything I've ever seen on FSX and P3d with all my top end scenery add-on's..
    regardless, neat video.

This is footage of a real flight through the beautiful landscape of North Wales and the Lake District in the UK. It now plays in London in the Science Museum on a simulator. See here.

WOW - "Now" if we could "ONLY" replicate 5g's in a DIY, cheaply - wouldn't that be a hoot!
    Thanks,

@cthiggin , granted we may not be able to replicate actual force like that, but even in car racing, you get that feeling of being forced around and your mind gets tricked into thinking you are suffering a g-force moment. Sometimes if I roll a car in game, as its flipping I get a split second feeling of actually being tossed around more than what the sim is doing.

    bsft,
I know what I feel on certain amusement rides - WOW - and I'm sure on you folks who have had many diy motion sims, the feeling sure replicate the real deal.
    Thanks

The idea of motion simulators is to fool the brain into thinking it has felt a certain deg of g forces in the right direction, its easier to fool the brain than to replicate the movement to the exact g. And in real terms I have been on a 240v sim reproducing 2g's and the sickness felt is very unnerving and not fun at all, but on a cheap dc sim you can achieve the same feeling in the gut and head but not end up being uncomfortable and sick.

Yea, careful what you wish for, when I first tried the Rift even without motion the presence is so strong that you really feel like you are moving and it can make you feel quite queasy(sick). By jumping on for short sessions I found after a week the sick feeling has gone away. Just had a friend on the sim today with the Rift and motion (I think motion actually helps) and he did not last 5 minutes before he felt sick and had to take the Rift off. I think this may be a real issue for some first timers to VR.

I will repeat my earlier advice to give to rift newbies regarding motion sickness: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/simulator-sickness.5429/#post-59224

I would add that you are spot on, getting acclimatised helps reduce rift motion sickness sensitivity. In addition, it is equally important to really optimise settings to reduce latency, maintain frame rates, eliminate blur and have the most crisp graphics that can be obtained within the limited rift resolution.

Do be kind to rift newbies and start them off in something tame like the standard rift Tuscany demo to allow them to get used to it, before throwing them on a rollercoaster or racing and flight sims.
