I'm digging up this topic 10 years later ahaha but i'm try it because i have a real interrogation about this aspect of the practice of simracing.
I understand why "Less is more/better" seems more appreciated for simracing: small, very reactive movements to realistically match the interaction of the car with its circuit/environment. Personally, and curiously i must say because i didn't expect it, i had more fun on a Yaw 2DOF that i was able to test on a Dirt Rally with inclinations of 40°, than other realistic sim."
Hence my question: do the majority of customers or DIY builders of simulators want strong realism or are there more people like me who are more into the fun, big thrills, roller coaster side of car games, than the research of immersion ?

Fun is what you want it to be, and people have different expectations and manifestations of that.

Notwithstanding, when it comes to the integration of VR with motion simulation some of the underlying human physiological and physiological factors and weaknesses come into play. Motion needs to be fast and accurate, whatever the axis scope, otherwise VR will make people sick.
