I see lots of great projects and ideas here, and as I am basically just copying some of your designs I would like to hear who first made a diy motion sim? Anyone on this board or?

This is one of the earliest approaches to DIY motion simulation :grin

Seriously though some of the founding members here are still around and were into building DIY motion simulatiors even before Xsimulator.net was established a decade ago.

i remmember the first i saw was a model made by a greek guy with a nickname "tronik" i guess he is here in this forum but is not too active... but i remmember that the story of sim tools go back to the days of a commercial product called "rock and ride" or something like that

The DIY flight sim guys have been at it since at least 2002: http://www.avsim.com/topic/132287-full-motion-simulator/

“Rock'n'Ride sims have been around since the mid 90s, and the SimCraft co-founder also created a DIY prototype in the mid 90s, which was later made opensource on Sourceforge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimCraft

The Link trainer sims had their origins way back in 1929, though I think you could reasonably call that the first commercial simulator: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/golden-oldie-link-trainer-simulator.7335/

Sorry, I thought we were talking about DIY simulators that were actually compatible with x-sim or simtools software for car racing...
