    Hi Everyone,

The DK2 is dropping in price, with some "minimal use" units popping up for $400 (AU)

Is there a massive difference between the CV1 and the DK2?

I'm saving for the CV1, but the sudden price drop in DK2 is intriguing me and can only think people are offloading as fast as they can to get the CV1..

Would someone care to do a Spec comparison?

I was thinking the same....Went for the Cv1 as a DK will loose compatability sooner or later..

There are significant differences between the DK2 and CV1 when it comes to screen, lenses and design, with the sum total improvement being ease of use, light weight, comfort and better image fidelity.

The change to Fresnel lenses has pros and cons, the lenses are thinner, lighter and improve the sweet spot but the downside is god rays and how bad they are seems to vary depending on people's eyes and manufacturing variation. Another downside is pupil swim, where what you see at the periphery moves with head rotation. I find it particularly noticeable, but that is likely because I use the Vive more and it does not do that.

The switch to dual screens is a technical improvement, but red screen tint on blacks has been a significant issue for a lot of people, particularly in games like ED. There has been a report that Oculus Help advised a generic fix is being worked on and I think that likely, as the troubleshooting Spud Tool does make a significant difference for many.

All that said, the CV1 is a significant step up from the DK2, though not without issues.

If you own a DK2 the new Oculus software gives it a new lease of life, but even so I would recommend you keep saving and not buy the DK2, it is already unsupported by Oculus.

It also took me over a week to sort out compatibility issues with my computer, even though it passed the CV1 compatibility test... With all these bugs, it is the better resolution over the DK2 which has sold me, with my DK2 passed down to my son, who has no issues playing games with it.

Oh... and for those people in the UK that bought an Oculus Rift. You got a 2 year warranty with the product... NO...WAIT...No you don't... It was only for EU countries. :O

    How Long Does Coverage Last?
This limited Warranty continues for one (1) year from the date of purchase or delivery of the Product, whichever is later (the “Warranty Period”).
However, if you purchase the Product from within the EU, the Warranty Period shall be two (2) years.

This is so true, also the DK2's IPD cannot be adjusted in Oculus home. But Myself and my Son did not find that an issue.

Nice one @Archie, except it will be at least 2 years until the UK actually leaves the EU. So no worries on the warranty front.
